鉄は、今日のようにリサイクルが注目される前から、当たり前のようにリサイクルをされてきた素材です。端材や廃棄材を再利用した鉄を用い、素材のもつ強度を活かした＜長く使い続けられるデザイン＞に仕上げています。

The hangers are made from recycled iron - material which has been recycled long before recycling attracted attention as it does today. The hangers have been created using iron made of recycled end and waste material. Making use of the natural strength of the material, they have been designed for “long-term use”.

PENCIL

三菱鉛筆

廃棄材の再利用率93%を誇る、地球に優しいリサイクル鉛筆。「ふし」や「欠け」で使えない部分を切断し、残った使える木片同士をつなぎ合わせた「ジョイント工法」を用いて鉛筆の軸に。芯部分も純度の高いリサイクル芯を使用。環境への負荷を減らす、エコマーク認定アイテムです。

An earth-friendly recycled pencil made from 93% recycled waste material. A “joint construction method” is used to create the shaft of the pencil by cutting the unusable ends and chips, and joining the remaining usable wood pieces. Also, a highly-pure recycled lead is used in the pencil. It is an Eco Mark certified, which is given to items that reduce burden on the environment.

「モノを大切に使うこと」「使えるモノは最後まで使い切る」というあるべき考え方を伝えていくため、ペンシルエクスパンダーをご用意。工場や製造業者から出る利用されない木材の端材と、使われなくなった金具を素材として再利用し、一つ一つ職人が大切に作り上げています。

Pencil expanders convey the idea that "products should be cherished and used with care" and "products should be used completely until the end". Unused timber and wood waste from factories and manufacturers, and metallic parts which are no longer used, are recycled as raw materials for the pencil expanders which are carefully created by craftsmen, one by one.

サイキー山陶装苑

美濃焼の岐阜県美濃市のプロジェクト＜資源循環と環境負荷の少ないモノづくりを目指す「グリーンライフ21」の活動に賛同し、マグを共同開発しました。
レストラン・カフェ・学校などで使われた使用済食器を全国から回収し、それらを陶器の原料「坏土」に再生。その「坏土」を使用し、マグへと生まれ変わらせています。（エコマーク認定）

The mug was jointly developed as support of the “Green Life 21” project of Mino City, Gifu Prefecture, which aims for the production of goods with more resource recycling and less environmental burden. Used dishes from restaurants, cafes, and schools, etc. were collected from around the country and regenerated as clay for pottery. This recycled clay is reborn as a mug. (Eco Mark certified)

流氷硝子館

使用済みの蛍光灯をリサイクルしたガラスを原料に作られたオリジナルグラス。このような廃蛍光灯のリサイクルガラスを原料とした製品作りや、地元で再生された原料を積極的に使う「流氷硝子館」と協働開発しています。

Original glass made from used fluorescent lightbulb recycled as raw material. We are working collaboratively with Ryuhyo-Glass, who create products in this way such as using fluorescent lightbulb glass waste as raw material, and actively using locally regenerated raw materials.

LEATHER COASTER

洋服やバッグなどを作る際には、成型を取る工程で必ず生地が余り、ほとんどが処分されています。このコースターは、日本の職人により生み出される老舗革製品ブランドから出る”残革”を素材に作られています。

When producing clothes and bags, cloth is always left in the process, and most of it is disposed. This coaster is made from remnant leather, a byproduct of long-established leather brand goods produced by Japanese craftsmen.

このジュエリーコースターは、日本の職人により生み出される老舗革製品ブランドから出る“残革”や商品化できないB級品を素材に作られています。長く使えば使うほど、深みが魅力となるアイテムです。

This jewelry coaster is made from remnant leather, a byproduct of long-established leather brand goods produced by Japanese craftsmen, and B-level goods that cannot be commercialized. The longer it is used; the depth becomes its charm.

浴室用のコースターは、再利用が難しい古紙と廃プラスチックをリサイクルした、環境に優しい素材をもとに作られています。本来この素材は、主に映画館やマンションの防振・浮床工事でコンクリートを打設する耐水・基礎材として使用されています。

The coasters for bathrooms are made from waste paper and plastic waste, which are difficult to reuse, but are recycled and made into environmentally friendly materials. Originally, this material is used in waterproofing or foundation material when casting concrete, mainly at movie theaters and condominiums, which have vibration isolation and floating construction.

鉄は何度でも何にでも生まれ変われる、循環型社会を形成するために重要なエコマテリアル。その鉄を使用してオリジナルのサニタリーボックスに。ボディは鉄板の端材を、取っ手には余ったボトルを使用し、遊び心のあるデザインに仕上げました。

Iron, which can be reborn as anything, for any number of times, is an ecological material important for forming a recycling-oriented society. Iron has been used to create an original sanitary box. It has a playful design with a body created from steel plate remnants and a handle created from left over bottles.

A domestic organic herb cultivated at a JAS-approved ranch located in Mishima City, Shizuoka Prefecture, is used as raw material, and the products have earned Ecocert certification.

TRUNK(HOTEL) CAT STREET has designated the use of beach sandals as a substitute for disposable slippers. It is an eco-item which takes into account the natural environment -- made from a collection of waste materials resulting from the manufacturing process, and combines it with a mixture of black dyes. It is made to be long-lasting so it can be taken home and used for a long time after use at the hotel.

シンプルなデザインの中に、ほんの少しずつTRUNKらしさを入れ込んだトラッシュビン。バルカナイズド・ファイバーという、木材パルプや綿を原料として作られています。優れた強度、耐久性、電機絶縁特性を持っているため、長く使い続けられるアイテム。TRUNK(HOTEL) CAT STREETロゴが刻印されたプレートもついています。

Incorporated in the simple design of the trash bins are small bits of characteristics that are uniquely TRUNK. Vulcanized fiber containing wood pulp and cotton is used as raw material to create the trash bins. Due to the excellent strength, durability, and electrical insulation, they can be used for a very long time. An engraved TRUNK(HOTEL) CAT STREET logo is attached for an added touch.

A hairdryer bag that is uniquely one-of-a-kind in the entire world. A creation by U.C.TILE FABRICS, a recycle fabric brand which advocates upcycling. U.C.TILE aims to be one step ahead of “REMAKE”, created by used clothes remake factory, TAOS.

国内で一年間に捨てられる布・革類はおよそ230万トン。そのうちリサイクルとして回収されているのはたった20万トン以下です。さらに、牛や豚などの原皮は均一性に欠けるため、まだまだ使用できるにも関わらず、3割の端材が焼却処分されています。このような皮革の廃棄問題に向き合い、渋谷区のアパレル工場から出る残革を使用したティッシュボックスを製作しました。

Approximately 2.3 million tons of cloth and leather are disposed of each year in Japan. Of this disposed material, an astoundingly small amount, less than 200,000 tons, is recovered as recycled material. Furthermore, since rawhide of cattle and pigs lacks uniformity, 30% of the edge material is incinerated even though it can actually be used. Faced with this problem of the disposal of perfectly fine leather, tissue boxes are made using residual leather from an apparel factory in Shibuya.

A shoehorn shaped with an urban image, while taking advantage of the comforting texture of natural materials. Vulcanized fiber containing wood pulp and cotton is used as raw material to create the shoehorns, and has excellent strength, durability and electrical insulation. We rely on the skills of people at welfare work facilities during the manufacturing process.

BED & INTERIOR

ベッドやインテリアの一部には、開発が進むなかで取り壊される建物の廃材や、森林の成長過程で密集化する立木を間引く間伐の過程で発生する間伐材を使用しています。

Part of the beds and interior include waste material from demolished buildings, a product of the progress of development. Also, timber from forests, a product of tree thinning to promote the growth of the forest, is used for parts of the beds and interior.

何年もの間、航海に使用された後に使われなくなった船のセイル（帆）。用途を変えることで、このビーンバックチェアがうまれました。水にも強く耐久性もあり、質の高い再生素材なのです。すべてにラベルが縫い込まれ、そのセイルを使用していた船、そして停泊していた港、セイルタイプ、セイルメーカーとエディションナンバーが振られています。

A ship’s sail which was utilized for navigation for many years, but is no longer in use. By changing its purpose, this bean bag chair was born. It is a high-quality recycled material that is durable and strong to water. Labels are sewn on each bean bag showing the ship which used the sail, the harbor, sail type, sail manufacturer, and edition number.

Wood grain, knots, scratches, and its long history, all of which add to the charm of the “wood”. With uncompromising trust and use of this timber, REMARK has tailored wood tables especially for TRUNK(HOTEL) CAT STREET. Tables worthy of making history along with TRUNK(HOTEL) CAT STREET, made of 80-year-old and 150-year-old timber, puts a nice finish to the guest rooms.

In Europe and the US, there exists a culture of taking care of things that have become old, not just getting rid of them. Along this ideal, COMPLEX aims to produce items that can be handed down to the next generation, 20 or 30 years down the road. Based on antiques and anonymous designs that do not become obsolete over time, we create furniture suitable for the contemporary lifestyle and diversity. Together with TRUNK(HOTEL) CAT STREET, the items increase in value as time passes.

Jun Hagan

Artist - Model

幼少より古着に興味を持ち、絵を描く事を得意とする。10代より数多くの雑誌をはじめ、東京・ミラノ・パリのコレクションのランウェイを経験し、2008年より“HAGAN”を立ち上げ、その後リメイクを中心とした一点物の「大人の為のNew Vintage Item」を展開。“The River” では自信の得意とするアートワーク等を手掛ける。

HAGAN has been interested in vintage clothes since childhood, and has always been good at drawing. Having experienced the fashion world as a model in his teens, both in magazines and on the runway in the Tokyo, Milan, and Paris Collections, he founded “HAGAN” in 2008. HAGAN has since featured remade one-of-a-kind “New Vintage Items for Adults”. His “The River” brand features his expertise artwork.

Michinori Maru

漫画と旅をこよなく愛し、ストリートからギャラリー、店舗、ビーチ、屋内、屋外、国内、海外等どこにでも出向いては現実と旅の間で時間と距離を重ねては印象のズレを表現する作品を制作している。別のプロジェクトとしてCinema Caravan のメンバーとしても地元の仲間と共に活動するなど、旅とともに足跡を残す制作活動を行っている。

Maru loves manga and travelling. From the streets to galleries, shops, beaches, indoors, outdoors, domestically and overseas, Maru produces works that express the misalignment of impression in the space between reality and travel, seen over time and distance. As a separate project, he is a member of Cinema Caravan, working with local colleagues in production, and leaving footprints along with his journeys.

The little shop of flowers

特別な日だけではなく、もっと毎日に花を近づけたい、というコンセプトのもと、個性豊かな花たちが揃う店「the little shop of flower」のオーナー壱岐ゆかりさんによる作品。大ぶりの枝はインテリアとしても存在感抜群で、ディスプレイされている佇まいが美しい。

A creation by Yukari Iki, owner of the "the little shop of flower", where unique flowers are arranged with the concept that flowers should be part of daily life, not just for special occasions.
The big branches have outstanding presence as interior decor, and the visual display is spectacularly beautiful.

全国の若手陶芸家が集う「陶ISM」を主催している。誰にでも手に入りどこにでもある足元にある土を使い、「今」という時間のなか、誰でもない自分の出来る陶を生み出し、それからつながるつらなりに可能性を見出すことに可能性を感じこだわり続ける陶芸作家。

Organizer of "Ceramic ISM" where young ceramic artists from all over Japan gather. An artist who believes that any “nobody”ceramic artist can find possibility of successions through the connection of using soil at our feet, which is available to everyone, anywhere, in the “now”.

Jessica Niello-White

カリフォルニア州生まれ。現在はオークランドを拠点に活動。ミッドセンチュリーモダニズムの影響を受け、彼女の作品は、機能的でありながら抽象彫刻のようなフォルムが特徴的。

Born in California, currently based in Oakland. Influenced by mid-century modernism, her work is characterized by abstract sculpture-like form, while being functional.

Ido Yoshimoto

Artist

樹木の傷を治癒するアーボリストとしての顔も持ち、インヴァネスの森から得たインスピレーションや樹木への理解に基づいた、自然に敬意を表す作品を生み出している。北大路魯山人やイサム・ノグチとも交流があったアメリカ出身のアーティスト・J.B.Blunk(ブランク)から影響を受けている彼の動向を、世界の有名なクリエイターたちが注目している。

Also known as an Arborist who heals scratches on plants, Yoshimoto creates works that naturally show respect for nature featuring pieces with inspiration from the Inverness Forest, and based on deep understanding of plants and trees. Yoshimoto, influenced by American-born artist J.B. Blunk, who had exchanges with Kitaojiro Rosanjin and Isamu Noguchi, has gained the attention of famous creators around the world.

行為として真逆の作業を横断することで互いの創造性を高める。独創性の高い作品が話題を呼ぶ、新進気鋭のアーティスト。

By being involved in completely opposite fields at the same time, he increases his creativity in each field. An up-and-coming artist who draws attention with his high level of originality.

2010年に東京を拠点に設立されたアートフォトブック専門のディストリビューター。
流通にのりにくい書籍を中心になかなか見る事のできない写真集やアートなどをtwelve booksの主宰である濱中敦史さんが TRUNK(HOTEL) CAT STREETの為にセレクト。自然にアートと触れ合う事ができるように、ラウンジや客室にセレクトされた本が置かれ、ゆっくりと新しい世界に出会う事ができる。本やアートは実際にサイトから購入する事も出来る。

Distributor founded in Tokyo in 2010 and specializing in art photobooks.
Atsushi Hamanaka, President of twelve books, has carefully selected rare photograph collections and art, mainly through books which have not been widely distributed, specifically for TRUNK(HOTEL) CAT STREET.
In order to be able to come in contact with art, naturally, these books have been placed in the LOUNGE and guestrooms, allowing guests to be able to discover a new world at their leisure. In addition, artwork and books may be purchased from the website.

Ryu Okubo

独特なタッチが魅力のオオクボリュウ。これまでに雑誌や書籍の挿絵、Tシャツデザインや、PSGの「寝れない!!!」、D.A.N.の「Ghana」などアニメーションPVの制作を行い、各方面から注目を集めてきた人物。オオクボリュウの初となる作品集『Like A Broken iPhone | アイフォン割れた』が昨年発売された。

Ryu Okubo, an artist whose unique touch is his strength. He has attracted the attention from various fields with his outstanding work in illustrations for magazines and books, t-shirt designs, and animation for music promotion videos such as PSG’s “Nerenai”, and D.A.N.’s “Ghana”. Ryu Okubo’s first collection of works, “Like A Broken iPhone, iPhone Wareta” was released last year.
